First time activation and verification of Vodafone GSM SIM card

Got new Vodafone GSM SIM card, now having problem with activation and verification. Here is complete guide to how I activated my new SIM.

I had bought Vodafone SIM 3 days ago for using internet through my Dongle/ USB Modem. Yes that’s true it took 3 days for getting signals in that SIM card.

After 3 days of long wait when I got signals I was not able to make any calls not even able to receive any calls. I just went back to Vodafone store for sorting out my problem. They said me to call and verify my number through Vodafone Customer Care.

He said me to call on 117 and tell them to consider that this is verification request call.

I called to that number and I started listen to IVR welcome and thanking voice of Vodafone. Then number was transfer to customer care executive for verification.

He asked my name and address which I submitted in form of documents. I quoted every thing correct and he said that all the service on your new SIM will be started in an hour.

He said me to call 111 for any kind of care, support or offers which will charge 50p/3mins and for complaints you can call on 198(toll free). And also said me to make any kind of recharge at-least after an hour because SIM activate after one hour (In my case, it was activated within few minutes).

I got welcome message from Thank you for choosing Vodafone service. Than I recharge with some amount to get some balance credit. As initially, It won’t have any balance. I dialed *111# to check balance. And the amount was credited. I made called to other number, voice was clear.

Here are numbers to take note:

  • 117 – For instant verification
  • 111 – Vodafone Care
  • 198 – Vodafone Service Complaint
  • *111# – Credit Balance Enquiry

And Hence my Vodafone new GSM SIM is now working in my Mobile.

      Contact Customer Care and Ask them to change the email ID. AS this is not your mobile number. Or contact the mobile number, and ask that guy to get it changed.

      We cannot tell whether your SIM is active or not. Please contact your nearest re-seller or contact Vodafone customer care.

    i got a card on the delhi airport at night, payed cash.
    at the desk they ask me for a document, and take a copy of my passport, and an address in india.
    I give the hotel adress, but then i don’t go to this hotel, the customer take me in another city.
    Now i have a total useless card, i am back in italy and have a piece plastic.
    What can i do? please answer me if it’s possible to change the address i gave, to activate the card so it will be cheaper when i am in india to call my customer, or to get money back.

      Hi Parthasaarathy,
      If SIM card is not in use for more than 3 to 6 months, then service will be deactivated for that number and might get transferred to any other person.
      Get a new SIM card with same number, if available.

    I ported my number from Airtel to Vodafone. It took 5 days to port. I received a confirmation SMS at 1.33am. Since morning 7am i tried to call 117 (must dialed 100 times) the call gets failed, I called customer care, one of the executive said go for manual network and try it, it failed. Second executive said, please remove the SIM and try again or else insert the sim in any other device, its a nano sim where should i search for a such device which accepts nano sim, anyhow i removed the sim & tried, it failed. Third executive said, due to technical issues some times you wont be able to establish a call, please try after some time, i asked after how long, executive said we cant assure the time, pls try after some time, (tried that too, it failed) i asked if the problem persists what should i do, executive said please visit the nearest vodafone store. wow what a service. For 4-5 hrs am dialing 117 still the call is getting failed.
