
If you are business owner or website owner, you must have your own domain name for business. If you already own a business domain name, than why don’t you try to create a new email address of your domain name that to for free.
Previously, I was using Google Apps for free (Standard version), but after announcement of discontinuing free trail period. I switched to live.com which is hold by Microsoft Co.
Note: Even Microsoft no longer offer free emails for business. But you can still get by paying them.
Now here is complete tutorial on how to create your custom email address for your business for free at live.com. Before starting the setup, I consider you already have:
- Email address at Microsoft i.e Hotmail, live.com, outlook.com
- Access to your website host or Cpanel
- Access to Domain Name Server (DNS) manager to edit records
Now lets start the setup step by step and its is highly recommended to completely go through this tutorial before you starting:
Step #1: Go to domain.live.com
Go to domains.live.com to create new custom email address
Step #2: Sign In with your Microsoft account
Sign in using your Microsoft Credentials to access domains live setup.
Step #3: Click on Add Domain button
After Sign in to your account you will have list of domain associated with you account. You can manage, delete, add, any domain name from this page.
You can see, I have already added some domain names already into account management page.
Step #4: Add you domain name address into account
Step #5: Edit you DNS Record with host and server address specified
Step #6: Edit DNS in your host provider
In your DNS manager at your host side, you have to add following records into your account:
- MX record
- TXT Record
- SRV Record
After adding all the record in you DNS manager, refresh the domains live page.
Step #7: Add username and Password for your email address
After refreshing your domain DNS changes will execute and you will be able to add the users to your network. You can add upto 50 maximum user at your one account for free. For more users you have to go for upgraded paid membership with Microsoft account.
Step #8: Log in to your new email address
You can login in to your new custom email address using live.com, outlook.com or hotmail.com.
And hence, your account has been created with your custom email address (username@your-domain-name.com) with Microsoft Domains Live.
