Before getting started, let me give a background on How the issue was started. I own a OnePlus One smartphone and I have been using it since 8 months. I never faced any issue related to voice calls. But all of the sudden, the problem started after I updated CyanogenMod OS in OnePlus One with the latest release. I don’t know what exact features or fixes were in the update, but I noticed an extra feature related to OK Google Voice software was added and that was creating a problem.
Whenever I use to call someone, the receiver was not able to listen to my voice or it was very disturbing. I got this complaint like two days from every caller. I thought my mic was broken and need get it repaired. But thankfully I had another mobile which I was using for the secondary purpose.
After looking for something 2 hours, I got a solution online for fixing the voice clarity issue. As I already mentioned I had received some update about OK Google, this update was really creating the problem for the voice call. I don’t what is broken due to this update, but disabling OK Google feature had helped in resolving the problem.
Here are the steps I followed for OnePlus One to disable OK Google feature:
- Go to Settings.
- Scroll down to Language & Input, hit on it.
- Scroll to Voice Input, touch it.
- Touch Gear settings icon on Enhanced Google Services.
Enhanced Google services
- Open “OK Google” detection.
OK Google Settings
- And disable all OK Google detection feature.
OK Google detection
- Now Reboot the device and try calling your friends to check voice clarity.
I guess most of the devices will have same options and setting pattern to disable Google Enhanced Voice feature. Once you disable the feature, then do not forget to reboot your device to make these settings effective.
Note and Conclusion:
If you disable OK Google feature, your Google voice search will be disabled. But we can hope to get this fix in next update and again we can enable OK Google.
If you are still facing the issue with unclear voice, then feel free to drop below your comments and device you are using. We are happy to help you.
