There are various tools available on the internet that allows you to create a gif directly from a YouTube video. But most of them are not so simple and intuitive to use, and require a login to be able to import the links. Considering launching a better crafted and easy to use tool, three Harvard students, who decided to leave university, created the GIF YouTube.
Any user can use the tool in two different ways, and both are quite simple. The user can paste the URL of the video you want to transform into gif within the specified site YouTube GIF field. The other way is to write the word “gif” before the word “youtube” in the URL, for example:
One of the creators of the tool on Reddit explained why they decided to drop out of college to devote to the project. “We could definitely work with him (GIF YouTube) in college, but it would be different. Currently dedicated all our time to make sure that gifs are being made and to implement the feedback we received from users. In the coming weeks, we’ll be unveiling something that will change the way we use Reddit and gifs in general, “he said. You can imagine then that the tool can be even better.
To actually create the gif, the user performs some editing, choosing the start time of the gif, the size of it and the title of the animation. Then, the tool automatically generates gif ready and provides links for sharing on social networks Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Reddit.
The next steps include GIF YouTube are support subtitles and add some improvements suggested by users.
